Disney Train - A Christmas Carol

After work tonight, I just decided to head on over to Rensselaer rail station and see the Disney train which was only in town TODAY ! It was free...and I LOVE "A Christmas Carol" so off I went by myself ! Parked in the shuttle lot and rode the free bus over! I waited in line for an hour and a half...but once inside, it was worth it. I saw costumes from the movie...a first printing of the book from 1843....letters written by Charles Dickens...drafts of the script...movie props, character molds, movie cameras and some of the special technology used ...then we got to "morph" our faces into pictures of either Scrooge, Belle, Marley's Ghost or Tiny Tim......Lots of fun...THEN...we got to see a 3-D preview of the movie, which lasted 12 minutes ! The movie will be released November 6th and I want to be the FIRST in line !!! I am so glad I decided to go !!

Maine - a wonderful week away !!

Bill and I went to Maine from Sept. 12th - 19th......Wells area. My wonderful friend, Fran, has a camp/trailer there and offered it to us! We went to a beach every day....had snacks, read, walked along the shore, collected shells and sand dollars and listened to the waves...and just plain RELAXED ! We visited some cute little areas....Perkins Cove, Ogunquit, Drakes Island Beach, Cape Porpoise, Wells, and Kennebunkport....We had PERFECT weather and I can't wait to go back again !

I feel like I’ve been away for so long. The past two weeks have been sort of crazy around here for me. I spent the first week just preparing for the second week. So would you like to know what I’ve been up to? Okay, well let’s start with Sunday July 26th.

Sunday – Laura, my wonderful Fiskateer friend and fellow Fiskateer of the Year 2008, arrived from NY around 11 am. We had lunch at Sonic, hit the grocery store, and then headed back to my house to craft. We made 72 pins for the following day while my WONDERFUL hubby made us dinner.

Monday – Around lunch time we headed out towards Epcot, but not before making a stop to drop off some supplies to Scrapbook Royalty. Scrapbook Royalty was hosting the Worlds Largest Crop attempt at the end of the week and needed to borrow a couple of things that they couldn’t bring with them on the plan for California. After we droppped off the stuff we headed to Epcot for the Fiskars 360th Birthday bash! You read right, Fiskars has been around for 360 years. Fiskars invited Fiskateers to Epcot for the day to celebrate this huge milestone birthday. Only 50 people were able to attend and Laura and I were lucky enough to be a part of that group. We had an amazing day… orange mouse ears, special Fiskars 360 shirts, Fiskateer friends (new and old), a scavenger hunt, HUGE goodie bags, snacks and candy galore, make n takes with the leads, photos with Mickey, the announcement of the 2009 Fiskateer of the Year, a super yummy dinner, a desert party, fireworks and a very special guest… miss Carol Duvall herself! Yes, I got to meet and get my picture taken with the queen of crafts. I can’t remember the last time I was so excited! (pics 1-4)

Tuesday – We were up early and headed to the convention center for the first day of the CHA Tradeshow. Laura knows someone that works at CHA, so she was able to hook us up with badges for the show (Thanks Tara!). We spent the whole day wandering the show floor looking at all the new products and doing make n take projects. I even got to meet Tim Holtz! At the end of the day we were able to have dinner with the Fiskars employees that were in town for the week. Since I am now “part of the team” I was invited to attend. It was a wonderful meal spent with wonderful people. (pics 5-6)

Wednesday – Laura and I were pooped so we just laid low. We hung around the house, prepared for the CHA Supershow (which was Friday and Saturday). We had a late lunch at Sweet Tomatoes, relaxing, and had a nice dinner with Paul. We even got to watch some tv and get to bed early.

Thursday – DISNEY WORLD! My wonderful friend Laura planned to go to Disney World with friend and lead Fiskateer Wendy Jo on Thursday. I wasn’t going to go because tickets are a little pricey and i’ve been there more times than I can count. But Laura would have none of that, so she treated me to a day at Disney (part thank you for letting her stay with me and part 30th birthday present). We had an AMAZING day! It was super hot and it rained for awhile, but we still had a great time. We took lots of pictures! (7-9)

Friday – We were up early to get to the CHA Supershow before it started. The Supershow was a vendor show open to the public. I was working at the Scrapbook Creations booth doing demos all day and Laura was doing Make n takes with Michaels in the afternoon. Our day did NOT get off to a good start. My day went pretty well, although demoing punches for 9 hours straight REALLY makes your arms hurt. Laura spent to the day wandering the show and then ended up getting money stolen from her bag. Needless to say we were more than ready to go when the show ended. But did we go home? Of course not! We headed to the Scrapbook Royalty Worlds Largest Crop attempt.

Laura attended as a cropper and I was there to volunteer. After about 3 hours things started to calm down, so we collected our things to head home. But not before my wonderful boss, and friend, Stephenie introduced us to one of her best friends… Mark Montano! He is so sweet and very very nice. We got our pictures taken with him, got his autograph and then headed home. We were so happy to arrive back at my house before 11 pm for the first time that week. (pic 10)

Saturday – Another full day at the Supershow. Laura taught in the morning and I spent the day in the Scrapbook Creations booth again. We ended up leaving the show an hour early because we had to pick up 3 huge boxes of donations from Scrapbook Royalty. They had some stuff left over from the crop and generously donated it to Care to Crop for the 2010 event. Holy cow, how generous! (I actually just sorted through the boxes and I’m AMAZED at all the wonderful things that were in those boxes. Their donation alone has put us so far ahead of schedule with our donations. Thanks again SBR!)

Sunday – Laura went home, Paul and I did some shopping, and then I spent the rest of the day on the couch

So thats what I’ve been up to for the past week. I’m still trying to recuperate. I’ve got make n take projects to do, pictures to sort through, goodie bags to sort and put away, and sleep to catch up on. But it was all worth it for such an amazing week!

Fiskateer-sy Friday...and Online Crop Weekend !

Welcome to my "Under Construction" blog !!....Huggs and Heartstrings pretty well describes me, thus the name ! FISKATEER pretty well describes me as well ! I love being associated with FISKARS and the FISKATEERS !! The friendships I have made out weigh the crafting aspect of our association ! Don't get me wrong...I LOVE my FISKARS tools and products !! How many other groups have their members saying they have 6500+ sisters !! I have lifelong friends and I cherish all the times we can find a place to fill with a sea of orange ! Being a FISKATEER means more than a number and membership....it means we all share a common bond of crafting and preserving the moments of our lives...and want to share that with future generations as well as each other. We all understand the joys of creating....whether it be with paper, fabric, glass, or altering an old jar !! It's therapy...it's joy...it's that limitless outlet ....and we all love it!
This weekend the FISKATEERS are enjoying an online crop ! All of us, from our own homes or studios (even offices !!) can get creative and just share !! POP ON OVER !

Updates !

Well...all my current swaps are full and creating ! New Year ATCs went out ! Everyone did a wonderful job ! Getting the spring ATCs in...and I have one state reporting so far, Arizona is my first one in !...and it's a beauty ! Dec/Jan kits are coming in a little slow...but are coming...have to post the February/March kits !! Thinking of another swap...maybe inchies next till all my ATCs are in and accounted for !! Almost finished my San Antonio Nifty Fifty trip album today at the 15 hour crop ! Only about 6 or so layouts to finish it ...YAY !!!....then I can do either the Olympic Torch album (only carried the torch on Dec. 30th, 2001....I guess I should get those pics in an album !!!...and my cruise pics of September 2007 !!!!......They will get done...this is my year of HOPE....and PROGRESS....I'm finishing projects this year...all kinds....albums, organizing my craft room....cleaning out closets and sorting "stuff"...all kinds of stuff!
Takes time and realistic goals...slow and steady, right ? Want to get this blog a little tweeked and updated too...Haven't tried posting pics yet...and want to get some activity going here too ! All things, in due time !!
